With six weeks until the St. George Marathon, I feel safe in saying that I'm right on track. I used my head and didn't run down the canyon again; instead I ran eight miles to the mouth of the canyon and back.
It was nice to challenge myself by going uphill so much and I gained a lot of confidence in the process. A week ago I was thinking of running this route, but didn't feel like I can do it -- what a difference a week makes.
The one downfall is I didn't run at all other than Saturday; partly by design because I felt I needed to take it easy after last week's run. This week I'm going to make it a recovery week and make my long run eight miles or so before doing an 18- and 20-miler the following weeks.
This is the plan for this week: three five-milers and an eight-miler.
Here are the stats for yesterday's run:
Mileage - 16
Time - 155 minutes
Comfort - 10

Hi there,
I found your blog through the runner's blog site. It's awesome that you're on track for your marathon. I'm just beginning training for my first marathon - I want to complete the one at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. I have been training for 8 weeks and it is so awesome to read yours and other blogs to help me gain ideas for my own training. It is actually also motivational to see that even though you felt you couldn't do something, you persevered and completed it. Congratulations! I'll definitely continue to read!
